Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II assured Senator Leila De Lima that she will be in safe hands

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Wednesday (February 15) assured Senator Leila De Lima that she will be in safe hands if ever she gets arrested. Such was Aguirre’s reaction to statements made by De Lima, who expressed fears that she might be killed while in detention. “Hayaan po nating ilahad ang nasa isip niya. Yun siguro ang nasa isip niya pero palagay ko, 100 percent hindi mangyayari yan,” the Secretary said. In the meantime, the Department of Justice (DOJ) is set to release resolutions on the criminal complaints filed against the lady politiko. If DOJ prosecutors find probable cause to indict her, then they will file charges in court, which, in turn, will have to issue arrest warrants. De Lima has been rapped by several entities for her alleged involvement in the proliferation of illegal drugs at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP). Apart from this, the Senator is also facing a separate complaint filed by the NBI for supposedly pocketing P8 million from drug lord Rolan “Kerwin” Espinosa Jr.
