Sumadsad pero ‘excellent’ pa rin: Du30 enjoys 83% trust rating, new SWS survey shows

After three months in office, President Rodrigo Duterte saw his trust ratings dip, but still enjoys the trust of more than four out of five Filipinos, a survey by pollster Social Weather Stations showed. SWS’ survey conducted Sept. 24 to 27 with 1,200 respondents showed Duterte’s public trust rating was an “excellent” net +76, with 83 percent having much trust and 8 percent with little trust, and 9 percent undecided. This was lower than the “excellent” +79 trust rating in an SWS survey from June 24 to 27 (84 percent much trust, 5 percent little trust) and still much higher than a “moderate” +26 (54 percent much trust, 28 percent little trust) before the May 9 elections. In contrast, his predecessor Benigno Aquino III, had a “very good” +67 (77 percent much trust, 10 percent little trust) in his first survey after taking office, conducted Sept. 4 to 7, 2010. Aquino scored an “excellent” +83 (88 percent much trust, 4 percent little trust) shortly after his 2010 election victory. SWS classifies net trust ratings of at least +70 as “excellent”; +50 to +69 “very “good””; +30 to +49 “good”; +10 to +29 “moderate”; +9 to -9 “neutral”; -10 to -29 “poor”; -30 to -49 “bad”; -50 to -69 “very bad”; and -70 and below “execrable.” The results were posted Tuesday on SWS’ media partner BusinessWorld. * In most areas Duterte’s ratings remained in “excellent” territory in areas outside Balance Luzon. He got an “excellent” +92 in Mindanao, +73 in Visayas, and +76 in Metro Manila; and a “very good” +69 in Balance Luzon from an “excellent” +75.

His net ratings also remained “excellent” in rural areas at +77 and +75 in urban areas. By socioeconomic class, his net trust rating stayed “excellent” in Class D at +78; +72 in Class ABC; and “very good” +67 in Class E. Among gender, his numbers were an “excellent” +77 among men and +74 among women. He still enjoyed high net trust ratings among respondents in terms of age and education. The survey had sampling error margins of ±3 points for national percentages, and ±6% each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
